For those of us who have grown sick of the antics of the F—PBX and Asterisk developers (both of whom seem to think it’s fun to break existing functionality with each new release), there may be hope that something a bit more stable is coming along. As you know if you are a regular reader of this blog, I have mentioned FreeSWITCH several times as an alternative to Asterisk, but the problem has always been that there were no really great GUI “front ends” and configuration tools (and part of the reason they were not great is because of the lack of documentation and support). That all may be about to change.

It turns out that back in 2008, Ward Mundy & Associates reserved the domain “switchinaflash.com“, as mentioned in this thread. As of today, that site is still “Under Construction.” But a few days ago, that ancient thread was revived with the posting of this message:

So, if you are thinking of upgrading your PBX, but have become increasing disillusioned with Asterisk and F—PBX and their apparent disregard for the desire to have consistency between versions (so that every new version doesn’t become a major headache for a certain segment of users), you might just want to wait and see what Ward and the gang have cooking!
