Just a heads up to keep your eye on the PSU VoIP blog if you are interested in the integration of Asterisk 1.8, FreePBX 2.8, and Google Voice. Bill writes:
“… This is an introduction, and I know a number of folks stop by this blog looking for technical how-tos, so this week and next I will be digging into these topics: setting up Asterisk 1.8 and FreePBX 2.8, configuring Google Voice and nicely integrating into FreePBX (not just hacking it into the extensions_custom.conf by hand), setting up a RS CloudServer for Asterisk, and some of the technical considerations I mentioned in the previous paragraph. …”

As I have probably mentioned too many times now, my personal preference at this point would be to avoid FreePBX 2.8 like the swine flu (not sure which would be more painful to endure in my particular case), but still I’ll be very interested to see what Bill comes up with in this regard. The more folks working on this, the merrier!
